How do you solve cradle caps?

I am sure many of our babies have cradle cap at one point in time.

What exactly is cradle cap?

“Cradle cap is a yellowish, patchy, greasy, scaly and crusty skin rash that occurs on the scalp of recently born babies. It is usually not itchy and does not bother the baby. Cradle cap most commonly begins sometime in the first 3 months. Similar symptoms in older children are more likely to be dandruff than cradle cap.

Sometimes it might be unsightly but it is harmless and only temporary. As long as you find a way to overcome the condition, all will be well again. J

We have the following California Baby products which are suitable for cradle cap:
-          California Babycalendula cream

We would highly recommend mummies to bathe your babies with California Baby Tea tree shampoo& bodywash and thereafter, use calendula cream to apply on the scalp. It helps and is pretty effective! Trust us! Hehe..

I wanted to take a minute to say how much I LOVE your products. When my son had cradle cap I was recommended to try your tea tree and lavendar shampoo and was AMAZED at how quickly it took it away. Since then I have not purchased any other products.”

“She had battled TERRIBLE cradle cap for months and months. We had tried EVERYTHING short of medical intervention (which we did not want to do). A friend of mine told me about your products and I decided to give your tea tree and lavendarshampoo a try. Within a month, she had very few scabs and today, she is cradle cap FREE!”

“The first night I had the CB products I washed her hair with the Tea Tree &Lavender Shampoo and then applied the Calendula Cream to her scalp. Since then, I have been using the shampoo and conditioner religiously!! I check my daughters scalp every night after her bath, and within about a week, the cradle cap was almost completely cleared!”

If you would like to seek our advices on cradle caps or any conditions that your little ones are having, feel free to drop us an email at info@shoppingparadise.com.sg and we will try our best to assist!

Till then peeps!

Tips to take care of babies’ skin

Babies’ skin is dependent on the length of pregnancy.  For pre-matured babies, their skin is thinner and more transparent while full term babies have thicker skin.

The babies’ skin will change from time to time, depending on how well it is taken care of. We have to remember that babies’ skin is very delicate and sensitive. It is always good to do a research and decide on which good skincare products to use for our newborn babies. Apart from good skincare, parents also have to make an effort to avoid certain things like direct sunlight.

We have gathered some tips for parents:

  1. Avoid direct contact with the sunlight
Babies below 6 months should avoid the sun whenever possible. However, if you really want to bring your babies out, it will be good to dress them up in long sleeves and pants and a hat. Otherwise, sunscreenlotions are highly recommended for babies from the age of 6 months onwards.

  1. Always keep the skin moisturized
       (a)                 Massage oil

Always massage your babies after bathe with the massage oil to keep it deeply moisturized. Cold pressed massage oils are highly recommended as it can be quickly absorbed into the babies’ skin while heat processed destroys the natural properties of the oil.

(b)                Lotion

Some parents might have preference to use lotions/creams over the use of massage oil. Lotions/creams get easily absorbed into the babies’ skin as compared to massage oil. If you use massage oil, you will need to slowly massage the babies’ skin so that the massage oil will be fully absorbed into the skin.

  1. Choosing a good skincare bathing product
The bathing product has to be something that will not dry out the babies’ skin. We recommend organic products like California Baby. California Baby’s shampoo & bodywashes are ultra-concentrated, long-lasting, allergy-tested, tear free, non-drying and leave skin soft and supple and hair shiny and manageable.

  1. Baby’s laundry
For baby’s laundry, you should use any kind of "free and clear" detergent. In other words, it is important to stay away from perfumes and dyes, as they can irritate newborn babies’ delicate skin.
